Workshop Information

The Welfare Officer workshop is mandatory for all Club Welfare Officers within Junior Triathlon Clubs.

This workshop will support you in your role as a Club Welfare Officer and help to further develop your understanding of safeguarding within a triathlon environment.

This workshop is a three-hour interactive virtual workshop, developed by British Triathlon and is the most appropriate and relevant workshop for Club Welfare Officers. This workshop builds on basic safeguarding awareness and focuses on implementation in the club environment. It also gives individuals an opportunity to discuss specific issues, challenges, and good practice in a friendly environment.

The workshop will be delivered via Zoom. You will be sent a Zoom link via email prior to the workshop starting. Please ensure the email address on your booking form is correct and up to date and that you check your spam inbox to ensure you receive the joining instructions. You do not need to print off anything before the workshop but may need to write notes as you go along. Post workshop materials and a certificate will be provided after the workshop.

As a pre-requisite for the workshop, attendees need to have completed the UK Coaching Safeguarding and Protecting Children training course previously. If you haven’t yet completed this training you can book your place with a British Triathlon here. 

The learning outcomes of the workshop are.

1. Identify what a club welfare officer (CWO) does.
2. Describe how a club welfare officer works with others to create a child-centred environment.
3. Explain how the club welfare officer role fits into the wider safeguarding environment.
4. Explain how safeguarding fits into the wider culture of the organisation.
5. Apply learning to case studies, including sharing good safeguarding practice.

Welfare Officer Workshop Terms & Conditions

Entry Requirements:

• Application is made via the online booking system. 
• Delegates must have internet access for the duration of the workshop and must be able to attend the full workshop duration.
• A pre-requisite for the workshop is attendees need to have completed the UK Coaching Safeguarding and Protecting Children training course previously.

Workshop Applications:

• Places are offered on a first come, first served basis to applicants.
• Closing date for bookings will be the day before the workshop start date at 9am, or when all available places booked.

Workshop Confirmation:

• The workshop is delivered via Zoom. You will be sent a Zoom link via email approximately 1 day prior to the workshop starting.  Please ensure the email address on your booking form is correct and up to date and that you check your spam inbox to ensure you receive the joining instructions.

Cancellation and Amendment 

• This workshop needs a minimum of 5 attendees if there are less than this signed up we will contact you to rearrange the workshop.

• British Triathlon is committed to upholding and protecting the organisation’s vision and values and maintaining the highest possible standards of sporting integrity. The Code of Ethics defines how we expect delegates to conduct themselves whilst attending this workshop.

Data Protection:

• A booking record is generated from the workshop which you have applied. This will only be shared with the workshop organiser and tutors.

Previous Workshop:

• This workshop needs to be retaken every three years from the date of attendance. If you have done another workshop within the last three years this can be used instead of this workshop As this workshop is a replacement for the old workshop we ran, the previous workshop certificate will still stand from the date of attendance for three years.
